Shropshire Apple Trust in conjunction with the Green Wood Centre
organises a comprehensive one day cidermaking course which includes:

A brief historical introduction to cider and its importance |

A description of apple types, sample tasting of basic varieties necessary for making real ciderTechniques for preserving apple juice, and for making cider vinegar |
 |
Demonstration and explanation of how to build a small scale, robust timber framed cider press from readily available materials. Full instruction sheets will be provided |
 |
Group participation in the preparation, milling and pressing of apples to make a gallon of juice to take home. |
 |
Full instruction sheets on preparation and fermentation are supplied. |
It would be appreciated if course participants could bring some windfall apples.
An additional charge charge of £5.00 is made to cover materials (including glass demi-john) for this course.
The course tutors' fully comprehensive book 'Real Cidermaking on a Small Scale' is available during the course at £5.95
